Bertrand Serlet is Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Apple Inc.1 He succeeded Avie Tevanian to the position in July 20032 In this position he has been primarily responsible for the release of Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard.

Before Apple he worked at Xerox PARC and NeXT.1

He spoke at WWDC 2006 on the similarities between Mac OS X Tiger and Windows Vista, including the comparison of Apple's Aqua interface and Microsoft's Aero interface. The video, available on YouTube, has been popular amongst Mac fans.[1]

He has also developed the Workplace manager in NEXTSTEP and OPENSTEP.citation needed He also has been the key to porting Mac OS X and other software on the Mac.citation needed
